Autumn in Nasu: Where Adventure Meets Relaxation
Nasu is a place to slow down and reconnect with nature. Cradled by the volcanic peaks of the Nasu Highlands, the region embodies the Japanese concept of Shizen — harmony with the natural world. This autumn, as forests turn crimson and gold, discover Nasu through its artistry, onsen culture, and nourishing cuisine — a destination where everything, from architecture to food, is shaped by the land itself.

SOAK: Shika-no-yu – The Origin of Nasu Onsen
At the foot of Mount Nasu lies Shika-no-yu, the birthplace of Tochigi’s oldest hot spring. For nearly 1,400 years, locals have soaked in its milky, sulphur-rich waters, cooled naturally from a 57°C volcanic spring. The wooden bathhouse, beside a gentle stream and the famed Sessho-seki stone associated with the legend of the mythical nine-tailed fox, evokes the nostalgia of Japan’s early therapeutic spa culture.
